Kathmandu: In a bid to enhance security measures and ensure effective customs checks, a contingent of 30 Armed Police Force (APF) personnel, led by an inspector, has been assigned to oversee customs affairs at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
Dr. Tokraj Pandey, the chief customs administrator of TIA, mentioned that the decision to involve APF in customs checks was prompted by a request from the finance ministerial level and the directive of the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.
The APF personnel will work in five shifts each day to carry out customs checks at the airport. This move is anticipated to not only bolster airport security but also streamline the customs process for more efficient service delivery.
